Thanksgving Dinner Asian Style

Quyen Asian Restaurant located inside of The Party Kingdom in James Island, SC served Thanksgiving Dinner on Thanksgiving Day. The price of the buffet style holiday dinner was $17.00 and kinds ate for only $6.00. I must say the Turkey was perhaps the best I ever had. There was also really good macaroni and cheese and a wide variety of sushi among other things making it a delightful experience. I would recommend Quyen to anyone looking for a casual place to eat lunch or place to have the entire family for Thanksgiving dinner next year.

Short Sales should they be disclosed

Posted By: Chris Brand In:   Charleston Real Estate News

There is much debate about if short sales should be disclosed.

Typically buyers would like to avoid short sales because of the time it takes to get an answer. Of course from a point of view of some people in the business the bigger concern is the likehood that the bank will even accept them and of course from the point of view of the listing agent they are generally going to want to do the best thing for the seller.

A big argument is that just because a house is priced under the mortgage does not always mean it is a short sale. A seller can always bring money to closing so it has been argued that you really have no way of knowing until the offer comes in if it is a short sale or not.

I...

Snee Farm

I went to a fund raiser for Mount Pleasant's Wando High School at the Snee Farm Club House on Saturday night. Wando High School has around 3,500 students and there were about 100 people who showed up so not what I was expecting. Overall the food and the drinks were good.

The condition of the Club House is really bad. There is a rumor of a new Club House being built in Snee Farm though with the required HOA fee being less than $350 a year there is really no reason for Snee Farm residents to be upset by the condition of the property.

Most Attractive People
No. 1 Charleston

This South Carolina city bumped off perennial winner Miami this year; have the good-looking people really migrated north? Charlestonians also score high for friendliness, rank second for their classic sense of style, and even make the top 10 for intelligence. To see if it’s all true, just stroll the streets of this quaint city, which also ranks No. 1 for its noteworthy neighborhoods.

Please make sure you add Getting out to Vote on your calendar for next Tuesday November the 2nd.  This is a very important election for the State of South Carolina, so please exercise your rights as citizens and make your voice heard.

In a recent telephone survey conducted by Rasmussen, the gap between Governor candidates Nikki Haley (republican) and Vincent Sheheen (Democrat) is decreasing.  A month ago Haley enjoyed a 50% to 33% edge over Sheheen, where now the margin has narrowed to 47% support for Haley and 38% for Sheheen.

Everyone wants to know what to do about the housing crisis. Housing makes up the majority of the U.S GDP and therefore probably the most important indicator of our economy's health. Finally some good news. Home sales have increased month over month by 10% according to NAR.

The National Association of Realtors said sales increased 10 percent from August, rising for a second straight month, to an annual rate of 4.53 million units. August's sales pace was revised slightly down to a 4.12 million-unit pace.Analysts polled by Reuters expected existing home sales to increase 4 percent to a 4.30 million-unit pace from the previously reported 4.13 million uni...

The Charleston Park and Recreation Commission along with the City of Mount Pleasant is considering buying 245 acres off Riffle Range in Mount Pleasant located between the Isle of Palms connector and Highway 17 for a price of $20 million.

There is some speculation if the deal is done that there will be park but there is also speculation of apartments, houses and shops.

So far there has not been any contracts signed and this information comes from an interview with Tom O'Rourke of The Charleston Park and Recreation Commission done by local Live 5 News.

Palmetto Grande

Today I went to see a movie called Social Network at the Palmetto Grand movie theater in Mount Pleasant, SCs Town Centre.

The movie was about how facebook came to be what it is. The founder Zuckerberg of course says it is all made up but it was a fairly entertaining movie and I would recommend it.

I would also recommend seeing the movie at Palmetto Grand. This is a very nice place to see a movie. Mount Pleasant's Town Centre is also an excellent place to go shopping or to dine out.

In addition I would recommend anyone looking to open a retail operation in Mount Pleasant to at least look at this shopping center before deciding on anything else.

Mount Pleasant's Town Centre is well esta...

Mount Pleasant Real Estate Trends

Posted By: Chris Brand In:   Charleston Real Estate News

Mount Pleasant currently has 839 active homes not under contract currently on the market. I can remember inventory being over 1200 homes at one time since things started going down hill a few years ago. Seems like things are moving along in the right direction. When ever inventory starts going down this eventually leads to price appreciation. At the top of the market back into 2005 there were less than 400 homes on the market and sometimes they would sell within a couple of days after going on the market..

While I have not complied any real hard evidence my guess is that you will see price appreciation in the lower end of the Mount Pleasant market in the Spring of 2011. Also remember whe...

Charleston SC - Top 5 for Housing Improvement

Posted By: Chris Brand In:   Charleston Real Estate News
Tags: , , , , , , ,

According to many experts in housing and economics there will be a few place in the next coming years where buying real estate is a good investment, and Charleston, South Carolina is one of them. Read the recent article by MSN.

Home prices of course, are variable and depend on many factors, each of which is difficult to predict. Still, average home prices will drop by 7.9% nationwide in 2010, according to Moody’s Economy.com. In the few areas where there could be positive price growth, the projected increase is modest. “These areas will essentially be flat next year,” says Steve Cochrane, managing director at Moody’s Economy.com.

Selling Your House - Lets Get Started

Posted By: Chris Brand In:   Charleston Real Estate News

After choosing the best Realtor to represent you and market your home, the next thing is to prepare the house for showings.  In today's market the competition is high, and your home must be priced right and outshine others in your price range.

Sellers should have a home inspection prior to putting their home on the market.  Any negative issues can be taken care of at this time.  Staging your home is next with the help of your Realtor, or you can hire a staging company.  A good Realtor will go through the house with their sellers and advise them on various ways to make the home look its best by rearranging furniture, packing away clutter (you will be moving anyway), and neutralizing walls...
